Pasta with meatballs in tomato sauce

For the pasta:
- 200 grams spaghetti
For the meatballs:
- 250 grams of minced beef
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1/2 egg
- 25 grams of breadcrumbs
- 25 grams Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the tomato sauce:
- 1/2 can of diced tomatoes (200 grams)
- 1/2 can of tomato puree (35 grams)
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon of sugar
Method of preparation
Step 1: Preparing the meatballs
- Mix in a bowl the minced beef, finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt and pepper.
- Knead the mixture well until all ingredients are well mixed.
- Then make balls of it.
Step 2: Cooking the pasta
- Bring plenty of salted water to the boil in a large pan.
- Add the spaghetti and cook according to package directions.
- Drain the pasta.
Step 3: Prepare the tomato sauce
- Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown them all over. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.
- In the same pan, add the tomato paste and cook for a minute.
- Then add tomato cubes, oregano and the sugar. Stir everything well and bring the sauce to a boil.
- Lower the heat and add the meatballs back to the sauce. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
